The Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) established Ruaha University College (RUCO) under its Trust Deed of the Registered Trustees of Ruaha University College with the kind assistance of well-wishers (RUCU friends) both domestically and abroad. Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) is the successor to RUCO. The conditions of the University Constitution and the Catholic Church’s Ex-Corde Ecclesia Policy on Higher Education Institutions govern how the university is run. Certificate Awards:
A candidate will be given consideration for admission to a certificate program if they have passed the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) “O” level.

Diploma Admissions:
A candidate may be considered for admission to a diploma program if they have passed the East Africa Certificate of Education (EACE) or the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) “O” level with passes in at least four approved subjects and the A level with at least three subsidiary OR one-year certificates.
Degree Admissions:
To get admitted to a first-degree program, you must meet the following minimal requirements:
- A candidate must have completed FOUR approved courses and obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education (C.S.E.E.) or its equivalent before taking the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.) or a similar test.
- At least two principal-level passes and a total of four or more points (where A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, and S = 0.5) in approved topics are required for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E.).
- Similar qualifications are allowed, such as normal or advanced degrees or certificates that fulfill the program’s standards and have a GPA of at least three.
Postgraduate Diploma Awards:
To be eligible for admission to the postgraduate diploma, a candidate must have earned a first degree from this institution, any other accredited university, or both, and have fulfilled the requirements for the award of a degree with a GPA of at least 2.0.
Master’s Awards:
To be considered for admission to a master’s program, an applicant must have a first degree from this university or any other accredited university and a GPA of at least 2.7.
PhD Awards:
To be considered for admission to the PhD program, a candidate must hold a Master’s degree from this university or any other authorized university with a GPA of 3.0 or above.

All fees and other financial commitments are the sole responsibility of the student and their sponsor or legal guardian. When HESLB is the sponsor, these loans must be processed in accordance with the guidelines that the Loans Board periodically issues. A thorough cost breakdown for every course will be included in the joining instructions. The tuition can be paid in four equal payments, one for each of the first and second semesters, or in full at the beginning of the academic year. Tanzanian Shillings (TZS) must be used for any payments made by local companies or individuals.
