Courses and Programs Offered by Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) in 2025–2026: According to the Trust Deed of the Registered Trustees of Ruaha University College, the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) established Ruaha University College (RUCO), which is now known as RUCU. Allied Health Sciences, Law, Business and Management Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, Arts and Social Sciences, and Education are the six professional disciplines that the institution currently offers as program specializations. Through these programs, students can receive certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates. It also provides consultation, research in a variety of fields, seminars, and short courses.

Throughout the semester, these programs are held Monday through Saturday. By mutual consent between the instructor and the students enrolled in the course, lectures may be held on public holidays as necessary. The Academic Almanac, which is typically created each academic year, lists the main events at the university.

English is the primary language of instruction at the university, unless the subject requires a different approach. The following seven areas are the emphasis of the academic programs:

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES

• Certificate in Computer Science: a one (1) year program.
• Certificate in Law: a one (1) year program.
• Certificate in Business Administration: a one (1) year program.
• Certificate in Library Information Studies (Library, Records, and Archive Management): a one-year program.
• Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences: a two-year program (NTA 4 & NTA 5).
• Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences: a two-year program (NTA 4 & NTA 5).

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

1. Diploma in Computer Science: a two-year program.
2. Diploma in Law: a two-year program.
3. Diploma in Business Administration: a two-year programme
4. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology Sciences: a one (1) year program (NTA 6).
5. Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences: a one (1) year program (NTA 6).
6. Diploma in Library Information Services: a two-year program.

DEGREE PROGRAMMES

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Software Engineering): a three-year program.
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Information Systems): a three-year program.
• Bachelor of Accounting and Finance with Information Technology (BAFIT): a three-year program.
• Bachelor of Environmental Health Sciences with Information Technology (BEHSIT): a three-year program.
• Bachelor of Science with Education (IT and Mathematics) (BSc Ed): a three-year program.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB): a four-year program.
• Bachelor of Arts with Education (BAED) with teaching subjects majoring in English or Kiswahili and minoring in Language/Geography/History/Economics: a three-year program.

• Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA): a three-year program.
