About the Programme

BRAC International, in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, is implementing a transformative initiative to impact 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and 9.5 million people across seven African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The initiative aims to:

  • Support AGYW living in poverty, worsened by the global pandemic.
  • Introduce scalable economic development approaches.
  • Empower AGYW through skills, finance access, and advocacy opportunities.

Position: Human Resource Officer (2 Posts)

Locations: Morogoro and Tanga
Employment Type: Contractual (Remote work opportunities available)

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Selection

  • Receive approved manpower requisitions from the Talent Acquisition Manager.
  • Arrange interviews for shortlisted candidates.
  • Collect documentation and issue contracts to new staff.
  • Oversee probation period reviews and background checks.
  • Maintain staff files and ensure registration for social security and medical benefits.

Founded in 1972 by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed in Bangladesh, BRAC began its international operations in 2002 in Afghanistan. Today, it reaches millions across 11 countries in Asia and Africa. Its programs cover microfinance, education, health, agriculture, gender equality, and human rights.

Training and Development

  • Assist with training needs analysis.
  • Support preparation, organization, and evaluation of training sessions.

HR Services

  • Collaborate with Accounts for payroll.
  • Manage attendance and leave records.
  • Ensure contracts are updated.
  • Process transfers, resignations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain HRIS and issue staff ID cards and nametags.

HR Strategy

  • Organize policy-sharing events.
  • Communicate policy gaps and suggest improvements.
  • Support performance management processes.
  • Promote staff development using the BRAC Learning Catalogue.

BRAC’s holistic model supports AGYW in their transition from adolescence to adulthood with training, tools, and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure team safety from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
  • Promote safeguarding practices and lead by example.
  • Follow and encourage safeguarding reporting procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in HR roles (officer, administrator, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of HR functions (payroll, recruitment, training).
  • Knowledge of labor laws and disciplinary processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office and HRMS.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Administration, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field.
