Location: Bariadi District, Simiyu Region, Tanzania

To become a strong Co-operative Union that provides good supervision, management skills to its Primary Co-operative Societies and the community, while improving the economic standards of farmers and promoting community development in Simiyu Region.

1.0 General Manager

Reports to: Board of Directors
Role: Providing vision and direction for the Union to achieve its goals and deliver the best services to its members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage daily operations of the Union.
  2. Oversee the implementation of short-, medium-, and long-term plans.
  3. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, rules, and regulations.
  4. Provide leadership to achieve the Union’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives.
  5. Represent the Union positively to stakeholders and the public.
  6. Advise and inform the Board on operational progress.
  7. Protect the Union’s assets and conduct audits.
  8. Develop and implement an Internal Audit Plan.
  9. Prepare and maintain inspection plans.
  10. Conduct value checks on development projects.
  11. Review the Union’s operational and technological systems.
  12. Support the implementation of recommendations from External Auditors.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
  2. Holder of an internationally recognized accountancy qualification (CPA or ACCA).
  3. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a reputable organization.

Salary: As per SIMCU (2018) Ltd Salary Scales.

2.0 Operations Manager

Reports to: General Manager
Role: Overseeing crop production, farmers’ training, and marketing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Advise the General Manager on crop production and operations.
  2. Manage stores and warehouses for crops and production inputs.
  3. Plan and coordinate procurement activities and logistics.
  4. Coordinate and manage crop marketing activities.
  5. Process and utilize information regarding production, marketing, and milling.
  6. Train farmers through field/extension officers.
  7. Prepare and implement seasonal budgets for farm inputs.
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture General, Agri-Business, Agro-Economy, or a related field.
  2. At least two (2) years of experience in the agricultural sector, preferably in cooperatives or business.

Salary: As per SIMCU (2018) Ltd Salary Scales.

3.0 ICT Officer

Reports to: General Manager
Role: Maintaining digital infrastructure, providing IT support, and managing agricultural information systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Advise the General Manager on IT-related matters.
  2. Develop and implement ICT policies for the Union.
  3. Manage the Union’s website and social media accounts.
  4. Register and manage crop production and marketing information.
  5. Maintain the Union’s Management Information System database.
  6. Support data entry and export tasks in the MUVU database.
  7. Oversee the implementation of agricultural information systems.
  8. Promote ICT access and use among member cooperatives.
  9. Perform graphic design duties.
  10. Provide ICT troubleshooting and support services.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of ICT work experience.

Salary: As per SIMCU (2018) Ltd Salary Scales.

4.0 Internal Auditor

The successful candidate will report to the Board of Directors of SIMCU Ltd and administratively to the General Manager. He/She will be responsible for evaluating the Union’s internal controls, including corporate governance and accounting processes. The auditor will ensure compliance with laws and regulations while maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting and data collection.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for:

  1. Reviewing and reporting on the adequacy of internal controls over the collection, handling, and use of financial and non-financial resources.
  2. Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and directives from the Registrar of Co-operatives.
  3. Reviewing and verifying the accuracy of financial calculations and information prepared by the office.
  4. Assessing the effectiveness of existing operating systems.
  5. Safeguarding the Union’s assets and conducting audits of such assets.
  6. Evaluating office activities and plans to ensure alignment with the Union’s mission, vision, and values.
  7. Reviewing and reporting on management’s response to External Auditor findings and supporting the implementation of recommendations.
  8. Analyzing existing operational and technological systems and providing recommendations.
  9. Developing and implementing an Internal Audit Plan.
  10. Preparing and maintaining inspection plans.
  11. Conducting value checks on development projects and other Union operations and providing advisory support.
  12. Performing any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

  1. At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
  2. A recognized international accountancy qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
  3. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a reputable organization.
