The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is a Tanzanian Parastatal Organization established by Act No. 23 of 1979 and operational since 1980. It conducts research on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and other public health concerns. The NIMR Mwanza Centre is recruiting for positions related to two research projects: Parent App for Early Years and BRIGHT-SAM Research Project.

Parent App for Early Years Project

Collaborators: University of Oxford (UK), University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), and REPSSI. Objective: A feasibility trial to evaluate a parenting app targeting caregivers with children in three age groups (third trimester-9 months; 10 months-4 years 11 months; 5-9 years). The app aims to deliver parenting programs digitally to vulnerable families.

Position: Project Coordinator (1 Post)

Reporting To: Project Principal Investigator.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in research protocol development and pretesting data collection tools. NIMR Hiring In 12 Positions
2. Train and supervise data collectors.
3. Organize and oversee data collection in Dar es Salaam.
4. Conduct data quality checks and liaise with data management teams.
5. Prepare manuscripts and progress reports.
6. Ensure proper use of project resources and manage financial reporting.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Early Childhood Development.
- Experience in digital interventions and child development research.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
- Strong organizational, managerial, and publication skills.
- Experience with peer-reviewed publications.
Terms: 1-year renewable contract.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on the project budget.
Duty Station: Mwanza Centre, with visits to Dar es Salaam.

BRIGHT-SAM Research Project

Collaborators: Rigshospitalet (Danish National Hospital), London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool.
Objective: A clinical trial testing therapeutic foods and psychosocial stimulation effects on cognitive and nutritional outcomes among malnourished children in Mwanza.

Positions Available

Clinical Officer (5 Posts)
- Responsibilities:
  - Conduct clinical examinations and collect clinical data.
  - Perform other study-related tasks.
- Qualifications:
  - Diploma in Medicine with a valid practicing license.
  - At least two years of clinical research experience.
  - Proficiency in Kiswahili and English.
  - Computer literacy and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
Assistant Nursing Officer (6 Posts)
- Responsibilities:
  - Perform phlebotomy, clinical exams, and anthropometric measurements.
  - Screen malnourished children and administer electronic data collection tools.
  - Conduct study-related tasks as directed.
- Qualifications:
  - Diploma in Nursing with a valid practicing license.
  - Experience in pediatric care and clinical research.
  - Skills in anthropometric measurement and malnutrition screening.
  - GCP training and computer literacy.
