AutoXpress Tanzania is seeking applications from competent, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals to fill the following position:
Position: Head of Retail – Operations
Job Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
2. The Role
AutoXpress Tanzania currently has seven retail outlets across Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Mwanza, with plans for expansion over the next 3–5 years.
The Head of Retail – Operations will oversee retail functions across regions, supporting branch managers to achieve profitability while ensuring operational efficiency. This role also involves gathering and organizing feedback from branches for structured reporting to the head office.
3. Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop, communicate, implement, and monitor the retail strategy.
- Align business priorities with the overall corporate strategy.
- Enhance customer communication processes, including call centers and tech communications.
- Develop and manage CRM programs to improve customer retention and loyalty.
- Establish clear communication channels across all retail branches and staff.
Performance Management
- Set targets and benchmarks, monitor branch sales achievements, and oversee bonus structures.
- Track and control branch expenses.
- Recruit, build, and lead high-performing teams through effective management.
- Develop and execute training modules for retail staff.
- Coach and mentor branch managers for professional growth.
- Support internal audit processes.
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Prepare and present financial and non-financial reports to the CEO.
- Guide the retail team in annual budget planning and target setting.
- Spend time in branches to assess business-critical issues and align tactics accordingly.
- Monitor and review the performance of branch managers and regional operations.
- Analyze financial data to support realistic sales budgeting and achievement.
Marketing & Sales Strategy
- Generate and execute national and regional marketing initiatives.
- Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and promotional opportunities.
- Translate strategic goals into operational plans to drive sales growth.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures related to POS systems and business processes.
- Oversee compliance with security, health, and safety regulations to minimize risk.
- Strengthen sales and operations management culture through coaching and training.
Stock & Infrastructure Management
- Optimize stock management to align with sales targets.
- Conduct stock monitoring, including internal consumption reports.
- Supervise branch maintenance and upgrades to align with AutoXpress’s brand image.
Other Responsibilities

5. Education, Experience, and Knowledge
Education:
- Degree in Sales & Marketing, Commerce, or Business Administration.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Regional/Branch Manager.
- Strong business management skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Familiarity with the region is an added advantage.
