About the Internship
The General Service Section of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) invites applications for an Electrician Intern position. The internship duration typically ranges from three to six months. Applicants should indicate their preferred internship period in the cover letter.
The IRMCT is responsible for carrying out key functions previously managed by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to international criminal justice while gaining hands-on experience.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of General Services Section, Facilities Management Unit Supervisor, or assigned staff members, the intern will:
- Participate in facility maintenance activities
- Prepare fieldwork reports and assess maintenance requirements
- Conduct on-site walkthroughs with contractors
- Draft as-built drawings to update new developments and alterations in installations and buildings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Special Skills
To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:
Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (Master’s level or equivalent)
Relevant fields of study:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Other related disciplines
No prior work experience is required, but applicants must have a background related to the internship field.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required
- Knowledge of Swahili is desirable

UNPAID Internship – Interns are responsible for their own travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses
