The Centre for Counselling, Nutrition, and Health Care (COUNSENUTH) is a leading indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under Certificate of Ordinance No. 9495 in 1998. COUNSENUTH is committed to achieving optimal nutrition and improving the quality of life for children, women, and other vulnerable groups in Tanzania.
Overview of the Position
COUNSENUTH is seeking a Finance Intern to assist in implementing financial policies and practices, including payroll, budget control, and accounting. The intern will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of the Senior Finance and Administration Officer, applying financial laws and government policies in their day-to-day work.
Reporting Line
The Finance Intern will report to the Senior Finance and Administration Officer.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Enter financial data into the accounting system and ensure proper documentation.
- Assist in budget preparation.
- Reconcile daily, monthly, and yearly transactions.
- Help in the preparation of financial statements.
- Support the organization in filing receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
- Provide customer service to clients.
- Compile data for audits and donor reports.
- Assist in the preparation of payment vouchers and ensure timely processing of payments.
- Act as a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters.
- Contribute to the overall goals of the organization by performing additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Specifications
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis.
- Ability to prepare and maintain records and documentation.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential data.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage is an added advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or any related field.
