About ECSA-HC:
The East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) is an inter-governmental health organization that fosters and promotes regional cooperation in health among member states. Member states of the ECSA Health Community are Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Eswatini, United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
ECSA-HC was established in 1974 to foster and strengthen regional cooperation and capacity to address the health needs of the member states. Through partnerships with diverse institutions, ECSA’s activities also spread to other countries in Africa to address common health challenges facing the region.
Position Summary:
ECSA-HC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communication and Advocacy Specialist to lead and coordinate its communication and advocacy initiatives. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that enhance the organization’s visibility, promote its programs, and influence health policies across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication and advocacy strategies aligned with ECSA-HC’s mission and objectives.
- Produce high-quality content for various platforms, including press releases, newsletters, social media, and the organization’s website.
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, stakeholders, and partners to amplify ECSA-HC’s messages.
- Organize and manage events, campaigns, and workshops aimed at promoting health initiatives and policies.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication and advocacy efforts, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in communication and advocacy roles, preferably within the health sector or intergovernmental organizations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
