TARURA New DRIVERS Vacancies February 2024, Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) is an Executive Agency under the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG). It was established under Section 3 (1) of the Executive Agencies Act (Cap. 245) through Government Notice No. 211 dated May 12, 2017, and officially inaugurated on July 02, 2017.
TARURA is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, maintenance, axle load control, environmental management, and road reserve management of rural and urban roads to foster Tanzania’s socio-economic development. TARURA Manyara Regional Manager’s Office, on behalf of the Chief Executive, intends to recruit self-motivated, qualified, and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions on a temporary contract for a period of one (01) year.
2.0 POSITION TITLE: DRIVER (6 POSTS)
Duty Stations:
- Babati District
- Mbulu District
- Kiteto District
- Simanjiro District
- Hanang District
3.0 EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must:
- Be a holder of a Form IV National Certificate.
- Possess a valid Class ‘C1’ or ‘E’ Driving License.
- Have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any other recognized institution.
- Be fluent in both Kiswahili and English.
- Be a Tanzanian citizen.
Work Experience:
- Must have at least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident.
Age Limit:
- Not above 45 years of age.
Salary:
- According to the TARURA salary scale.
4.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The driver will be responsible for:
- Driving motor vehicles in compliance with road traffic rules and regulations.
- Inspecting the motor vehicle before and after any journey to identify required maintenance or repairs.
- Ensuring that the motor vehicle and its equipment (jack, spanner, spare tire, etc.) are available and in good condition.
- Performing minor/routine vehicle maintenance.
- Ensuring that the vehicle doors and windows are properly locked for safety at all times.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle at all times.
- Recording and maintaining journey details in the vehicle logbook.
- Assisting in collecting and dispatching mails.
- Reporting any accident immediately to the supervisor and traffic police.
- Performing any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
