VisionFund Tanzania Microfinance Bank Ltd (VFT MFB), formerly known as SEDA, is a fast-growing and reputable Microfinance Bank (MFB) with a loan book exceeding TZS 44 billion and a customer base of more than 60,000—over 5,000 of whom are smallholder farmers.

VFT MFB is seeking to employ a dynamic and committed Tanzanian young man or woman with a passion for people’s economic development to fill the following vacant position:

Position: People and Culture Officer

Work Reference No.: 04/25
Reporting to: Senior People and Culture Officer

Job Purpose:

The People & Culture Officer is responsible for performing various personnel-related clerical duties, including maintaining employment records, ensuring compliance, and providing customer service related to People and Culture matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise monthly payroll using the Aruti payroll system.
  • Update employee data in HR systems (Aruti and Workday).
  • Regularly update all employee records, including personal background information, children’s details, current employment status, and locations.
  • Maintain an efficient and confidential HR record-keeping and filing system.
  • Serve as the custodian of all employee personal files and PC-related electronic and non-electronic documents.
  • Administer medical insurance for employees and dependents.
  • Manage all medical-related issues for VFT-MFB staff and their eligible family members.
  • Oversee all staff leave and related matters, including leave plans, approvals, and advances.
  • Provide general support to business centers on People and Culture issues.
  • Respond to daily employee inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a professional HR environment.
  • Knowledge of Tanzania Labour Laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Experience in payroll management and benefits administration (experience with Aruti System and Workday is an added advantage).

  • Excellent trainer, facilitator, mentor, and coach.
  • Analytical and innovative.
  • Excellent planning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective Christian leadership.
