We are currently seeking motivated and highly experienced individuals to fill the following positions:
1. Digital Reporter (1 Post)
Purpose:
The Digital Reporter is responsible for creating, curating, and delivering high-quality, engaging, and timely news content across digital platforms.
Main Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Produce accurate, clear, and engaging news articles, videos, and multimedia content for The Citizen’s digital platforms, including the website and social media. Breaking News Coverage: Monitor and report on breaking news events, ensuring timely updates and comprehensive coverage.
Digital Publishing: Manage and update content on websites and social media platforms using content management systems and scheduling tools. Research & Reporting: Conduct thorough research, interviews, and fact-checking to ensure content credibility and accuracy.
Audience Engagement: Interact with readers and followers on social media to foster community engagement and increase audience reach. Collaboration: Work closely with editors, photographers, videographers, and designers to produce cohesive stories.
- Analytics and Performance Tracking:
- Analyze web traffic and engagement metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Use data insights to refine content strategy and improve reach and impact.
- Coordinate with social media and marketing teams to amplify content reach.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 2–3 years of working experience in digital content creation and reporting.
2. Business Reporter – The Citizen (1 Post)
Purpose:
The Business Reporter is responsible for producing factual, detailed, and well-researched business news that aligns with journalistic ethics, editorial objectives, and house style.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop reports and write news and feature stories for the assigned title with minimal need for rewrites. Attend news functions, take notes, conduct interviews, and make audio/visual recordings as necessary. Write news or features proactively or as directed by the Business Editor or Section Editor.
Ensure content adheres to MCL’s editorial policy, house style, and ethical journalism code. Research and provide background information to enhance copy completeness. Brief the News Editor on gathered stories and write selected ones within set deadlines.
Follow up on news leads and maintain close contacts with sources. Build and maintain a valuable contact list with consistent exclusive reports or information. Respond promptly to breaking news events. Ensure content accuracy, correctness, and adherence to the required style.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 2–3 years of working experience in journalism.
