Job Purpose:
A Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officer’s job is to make sure that initiatives, projects, and programs are efficiently planned, carried out, and evaluated in order to produce the intended results and effects. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitoring
- Working along with the MEL Manager of Ubongo:
- Gather information on program activities, results, and outputs on a regular basis.
- Track program execution versus predetermined goals.
- Recognize early warning indicators and suggest remedial measures.
- Make questionnaires, surveys, and other tools for gathering data.
- Oversee or carry out data collection methods, such as focus groups, interviews, questionnaires, and observations.Evaluate program performance and results by analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data.
Impact Evaluation:
- Encourage regular assessments (baseline, midterm, and end-line) to gauge the effectiveness of the program.
- If necessary, work with outside evaluators.
- Create evaluation reports and frameworks to guide program modifications.
Learning
- Encourage a learning culture at Ubongo.
- Encourage knowledge sharing, learning activities, and reflection sessions.
- Record best practices and lessons learned.
Reporting
- Create thorough papers and presentations that provide a summary of the conclusions, revelations, and suggestions.
- Record best practices and lessons learned to guide upcoming initiatives.
- Encourage the findings’ packaging and distribution for both internal and external usage.
Stakeholder Engagement
- To guarantee coordination and successful execution of MEL activities, collaborate closely with the user research team, program managers, content producers, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with funders, outside partners, and other interested parties to integrate comments and communicate findings.
- Encourage an organization-wide culture of ongoing learning and development.
Skills, Experience, & Education:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as international development, social sciences, statistics, or education media programs.
- Three years or more of MEL experience. Preferred is a certification in results-based management (RBM).
- Demonstrated proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques, proficiency with statistical analysis software (stata, spss, etc.),
- Demonstrated expertise collaborating with outside research organizations,
- Familiarity with research and assessment methods in education.
- It is ideal if you have experience with media-related research and/or education.
- strong ability to analyze.
- Proficiency with databases and Excel, among other data management tools.
- Outstanding report-writing and communication abilities.
- The capacity to cooperate with a variety of teams.
