DIT has received full accreditation from the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to carry out its programs and provide scholarships to eligible candidates in compliance with NACTE and school regulations. There are the following prizes up for grabs: National Technical Award (NTA) Ordinary Diploma Programs (Levels 4–6), Bachelor Degree Programs (NTA Levels 7–8), and Master Degree Programs (NTA Level 9). Furthermore, DIT is registered with VETA at NVA levels I–III to offer vocational training.

The India Tanzania Center of Excellence in Information and Communication Technology (COEICT) in Dar es Salaam, DIT Myunga Campus in Songwe, and DIT Mwanza Campus have all been approved by the Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) to provide vocational training programs at National Vocational Awards (NVA) Level 1–3 in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificate:

The Basic Technician Certificate and Technician Certificates are the two separate exit levels that NTAs 4-5 offer. The proper award will be given to students who successfully fulfill the requirements for an NTA 4 or NTA 5 Basic Technician Certificate but choose to withdraw or are unable to get an Ordinary Diploma.

  • Ordinary Diploma in Food Science and Technology

Higher Diploma Programmes:

The higher diploma is part of the bachelor’s degree curriculum. The Higher Diploma (NTA 7) will be awarded to students who successfully fulfill the requirements for the benefits of a Higher Diploma but choose to drop out or are unable to finish their bachelor’s degree.

Bachelor Degrees Programmes (NTA 8):

The duration of the bachelor’s degree programs is three years for Ordinary Diploma holders and four years for Form Six graduates. The following lists the degree programs that DIT currently offers.

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Computer Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electrical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Laboratory Sciences
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Oil and Gas Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Mining Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) in Biomedical Engineering.

Masters’ Programmes (NTA 9):

Three postgraduate degrees are available at DIT to address market demand capacity and technology issues.

  • Master of Engineering in Maintenance Management (18 months)
  • Master in Computational Science and Engineering (18 months)
  • Master of Technology in Computing and Communication (18 months) and
  • Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy Engineering (24 months)
  • These programs are offered by coursework and dissertation.
