Job Summary
TARURA (Rural and Urban Roads Agency) is currently hiring 50 civil engineers to join their technical team. These engineers will be responsible for designing, supervising, and managing road infrastructure development and maintenance across various regions.
This is a unique opportunity for qualified civil engineers to directly contribute to improving Tanzania’s road network, especially in underserved rural and urban areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
The engineer (civil) will be expected to:
- Prepare cost-effective designs for urban and village road infrastructure
- Maintain detailed records of road construction designs for TARURA
- Develop economical construction methods to guide project execution
- Conduct engineering, traffic, and economic studies for road improvements
- Establish, maintain, and update road management systems
- Oversee procurement and contract management for various road projects
- Operate weighbridges and enforce axle load control on rural and urban roads
- Conduct research to support road development and maintenance
- Design road projects to ensure safety and structural adequacy
- Assist in preparing tender documents for procurement of contractors
- Carry out road inventory, condition assessments, and traffic surveys
- Supervise contractors and force account operations on site
- Attend site meetings and prepare official minutes
- Ensure quality control in road and bridge construction materials
- Prepare road and bridge maintenance plans and budgets for TARURA
- Manage road reserve areas and public car park spaces
- Assess critical road maintenance needs and provide expert advice
- Support the development and implementation of quality assurance systems
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer
- Must be computer literate
